Swami on Emperor Bali and Vamana

00:00

Embodiments of love! Based on the principle of truth Emperor Bali considered all his subjects as his children. Emperor Bali was very generous, the embodiment of love and an adherent of truth. When Kerala was ruled by Emperor Bali, there was no shortage, there was no dearth of food, raiment and shelter. In fact, he conquered all the deities. As a sign of his victory over all devathas he conducted a sacred ritual along the shore of the Narmada river, the sacred ritual called Vishwajit. At that time, Vamana appeared. He was the child of Kashyapa and Aditi. He proceeded towards the sacred ritual Vishwajit. He lived in the Siddhashrama. From Siddashrama, as he went towards this yaga, all started looking at him with surprise. He was so young a boy. They could see the effulgence and brilliance adorning the face of this young boy. That radiance started attracting everybody. Vamana symbolizes the magnet - attraction. This scene was noticed by the daughter of Emperor Bali - Ratnamala. Ratnamala, the daughter of Emperor Bali was very much mystified, surprised, watching the beauty and the brilliance of this young boy. She wanted to have such a child, to foster and take care of him. In fact, she felt sorry that she didn't have such a child. Meanwhile, Vamana sent Emperor Bali to Pathala. Ratnamala's feelings towards this boy changed to hatred, since he was responsible for Emperor Bali being sent to Pathala. Vamana noticed this scene. He said, 'May it be so'. God blesses all your sentiments and feelings and your thoughts. So we should think good. There is no place where there is no God. God pervades the whole universe. He has His feet, ears and hands spread all over the world. You cannot hide from Him. 'Ratnamala, initially you wanted to feed me with your milk. You are now full of fury and anger because I have put down your father, sent him to Pathala. You really want to kill me.' And He blessed Ratnamala this way - 'May you be born in Dwapara age in the form of Poothana and die after feeding me with your poisonous milk'. It is necessary that the modern man should develop good thoughts. Unknowingly you may entertain certain thoughts, God would bless you to let things happen that way. Man is not able to know the secret of divinity and acts as per his whims and fancies. Therefore it is necessary to 'think good' all the time. See no evil - See what is good. Hear no evil - Hear what is good. Talk no evil - Talk what is good. Think no evil - Think what is good. Do no evil - Do what is good. This is the way to God. If you entertain sacred thoughts you will be the recipient of the sacred blessings of God. Since we constantly have bad thoughts, we spend all our life facing the consequences. We suffer when we face the results. We are not mindful of the result when the thoughts emanate. This was the thought of Ratnamala. As was her thought, so was the result and the experience. But we are worried to face the consequences. There is nothing wrong with God - there is something wrong with our own thoughts. Therefore we should entertain truthful thoughts and join good company. When you join good company, you will naturally have good thoughts. Ratnamala teaches us to develop good thoughts, truthful thoughts.
