Focus of Sai Samithis

Dear children,

There is no use in My writing about the samithis! I have been saying that through focus on the next world man should triumph over the fascinations and fancies of this world. But the members of the organisation have given up all thought of future lives or further worlds! They behave as if this life, this world is the one and the only one to them, this seems the only measure, the only goal!

For such people, illumination can only be as faint as the glow of the worm in the night. Thought the stars twinkle in the sky and appear as tiny specks when compared with the bright disc of the moon that bathes the Earth with its cool comforting glow, they are really much more brilliant. Each of them is a hundred Suns rolled into one. But, for the limited vision of ignorant onlookers, the star is a spark and the moon, a huge source of light. Such men think of the lives that look in the future as quite trivial and the present life (since it is not distant) as very important. They don’t pay any attention to the stars. Civilization today is concerned with the atom; it ignores the Atman. This is the misfortune.
